Plastic and You
A disposable mindset has taken hold of the population. People are quick to throw and slow to recycle. Why are we moving in this direction? One wonders if this is intentional or coincidental. Time will tell.
Very rarely have taxes or bans been a solution. Perhaps the mad artists, toying around with ideas of remodeling plastic are not mad after all.
Saving the planet either seems like a meme gone out of control or some random by-the-way project for newbie political aspirants. When will the real heroes emerge? It was heartening to hear the young voices of protest. But it also makes the heart sink to imagine the future they have no choice but to inherit.
One of SmartHug’s goals for 2020 is to control damage by using cloth instead of plastic. One of the smart ways to offset plastic consumption could be switching to cloth-based packaging. It is a small step and the way ahead is a tough space to navigate. But it is possible. After-use systems have been to be re-imagined – the artists must visualize the new future.
There is hope. The good news is that you are reducing your carbon footprint by reusing grocery bags, water bottles and refusing single-use packaging options.
Thank you for helping the planet.
