Ankita, India
During our search for humanity, SmartHug prefers stirring the spirit of people towards the world they live in. We love asking people our favorite question, “What’s your SmartHug?”
Our founder, Sajeel Khanna, decided to do something about it and launched SmartHug on his birthday. Yes, birthdays can be more than just throwing a wing-ding. It can be a celebration of being human and showing gratitude towards everything we have got.
Our team gathered and used his birthday celebration as a platform for people and non-profit organizations who are consciously making a difference in society. We spoke to many people and tried to know their bit back to the world in any possible manner. One story which touched our hearts was of a musician and a screenwriter - Ankita Kumar. She is running a Piano school – Color Of Music in Delhi, India.
She told us that helping the society couldn’t necessarily be done by one time charitable or materialistic gesture and we couldn’t agree more. India has almost 5.3% of its population under a poverty line, the best way to help them is by giving them a livelihood.
Anyway, coming back to our original story. Ankita made us ponder that one can help society by simply being nice to people (rich or poor) with pleasing words or expressing gratitude whenever possible. She comes from a respected police family and understands the unfortunate reality that police do a very special yet unappreciated job. Nobody wants to friend them. You either treat them as a service or feel scared of them.
Ankita has been conducting a musical celebration in her Piano school for a decade now which is dedicated to the police fraternity and the brave Martyrs of Delhi. A beautiful evening filled with music performances expressing respect towards the braveness of policemen. Some of the fellow police officers have given their lives while saving the common people like you and me.
Ankita is doing bit by appreciating the profession which is unacknowledged by most of us. Her intentions are pure in doing a good deed.
A minor gesture of appreciation could give a tremendous amount of happiness and motivation to someone.
Do you think gratitude brings the best attitude? If you have a story or an incident resonating with our ideas, write to us now. Let’s make this world a happy place.
